Landscapes

Inspired by Akhtar’s previous etchings, an A1 copper plate was step bitten, in sections as opposed to the whole in one go. Elements recalled from her house renovation built reality to imagination and vice versa. Etched areas held permanency whereas the negative space was in flux, hence the variation between monoprints, surface rolls, white spirit and chine collé, produced on Fabriano Tiepolo.

Birds

Whilst developing Landscapes, a bird kept making an appearance.

"Where on earth did that come from, right"?

Quite a natural look was maintained; however the sepia tones led more towards pattern, overlaying torn uninked scrim. This subtle embossing departed in to paper cutting, all produced on Hahnemuhle Etching paper.

Here & There

Moving forward, the two A1 sheets of Hahnemuhle consisted of the maximum plates, interconnected with both folded and knotted scrim, as well as the intricate cultural pattern, as a consequence of a Swann Morton blade 10a.
